Evidence might include photos, videos, audio, messages, social media profiles or conversations, documents, emails, CCTV or indeed anything else you want to retain as evidence.Photograph physical injuries - use our in-app camera and forensic technology to take scaled photographs which will ensure that those photographs are legally admissible as forensic evidence.Medical records - uploading those that are relevant to the kulpa app you will ensure that they are safe and secure and that they can be utilised to support your case in a civil or criminal procedure should they wish to proceed with one.Does someone else have relevant evidence? Invite them to directly contribute that evidence to the case file. You can also chat to an invited contributor using the app’s secure chat function.Securely Storing Evidence On The kulpa Cloud Gives You Options(1) Do Nothing - That’s entirely your choiceYour data will not be shared with anyone, unless you choose to submit it to the police or send it to another third party via the app.If you have not submitted the case to the police, you can delete your data at any time. But, once it’s gone, its gone for good and cannot be retrieved.Ultimately, it’s your data and you have complete control. You choose what happens to it and what it’s used for. But whatever you choose, it will be safe and secure.(2) Send The Evidence To A Lawyer - So that they can help you take a civil actionYou can use the app to send your data quickly and easily to a kulpa accredited lawyer who will provide you with free legal advice and support*They can then hopefully assist you in obtaining whatever civil order you need, whether that be a protective, restraining or other order.Alternatively, you can send your kulpa data to a solicitor of your choosing.*Free legal assistance may be subject to a means test.(3) Report The Incident To The Police - So that they can quickly safeguard you and hopefully, prosecute the offender.The police will receive the evidence which you have stored, accompanied by an automatically generated evidential statement exhibiting all of that evidence, together with a metadata report.Essentially, they should have everything they need to interview the suspect and progress matters.As the app captures all of the required metadata, a physical download of your entire device should not be required in a majority of cases.FURTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS:(a) When installed, the app will appear as ‘kulpa’.(b) On some Android devices you can hide the app but if you use the search function, it will still appear in the list of installed applications.If you don’t want to have it on your device, weve got two options for you:(1) If you delete the app, it will not delete your account and data. Data can only be deleted from inside the app and the app is protected by an individual PIN which is chosen by you on registration. It can also be protected by Face ID.Therefore, you can download the app, record and store the evidence, and then delete the app again. The data will be securely retained and available when you re-download and log back in.(2) If you dont feel comfortable downloading and using the app on your own device, ask a friend, relative or support worker to download the app, register in that capacity and use the app to help you to capture and record all of the evidence. It will be stored safely and securely on their account, ready, if and when you want them to submit it to the police.
